Happy Friday, friends! A few of you asked me to bring back this weekly feature, so I’m adding it back into the blogging rotation. I find so many of my favorite things through recommendations from others, so please chime in and let me know what you’re loving in the comment section! Now, on to my faves from the week.
Summertime Sangria
My mom’s recipe for sangria never fails me. I’ve somehow gone most of the summer without making a batch and I forgot what a crowd pleaser it is. I made a pitcher Monday night when some friends came over to watch The Bachelorette (yes, I’m one of those people) and we killed the pitcher between the three of us. I can’t wait to make more for a pool party we’re going to this weekend!
Scholar’s Inn Beer School
A local bar that we loved recently closed and we were especially sad because it hosted a weekly beer school, where a different brewery came every week to provide samples and tell you about their brews. It was one of our favorite activities, so we were thrilled to hear Scholar’s Inn is taking the weekly event over. We checked the new venue out for the first time this week and had an absolute blast! Scholar’s beer school is located in the upstairs bar, which helps keep the experience intimate and also makes it feel a bit more sophisticated. This week featured Against The Grain from Louisville, which I wasn’t familiar with. We had a blast trying several of their beers (Bloody Show was my fave!). I got a kick out of their Sho’Nuff can, which shows you where to puncture it for shotgunning. We also decided to take advantage of some of the food specials. In addition to their regular menu (which has an awesome buy-one-get-one entree deal going through Aug. 13), Scholar’s has a small menu of affordable specials for beer school. Everyone at our table got the beer cheese fries, which are made using a beer from whatever brewery is featured that week. They were insanely good! We can’t wait to go back again next week.
Calvin Klein Pleated V-neck Shell
My mom and I were shopping earlier this week when I stumbled across this simple shirt. I’ve been looking for a dressier white tank top to wear under blazers and sweaters at work and this one is perfect! The neckline is super flattering and it’s a piece that can be worn in so many ways. I’m tempted to go back and get the same shirt in another color or two. I know I’ll be wearing it constantly!
Lucinda Williams
My mom and I saw Lucinda Williams in concert earlier this week and renewed my love of her passionate music. The lyrics are beautifully written and her voice is haunting. I left the concert wanting to listen to some of my favorites, like “Wheels On A Gravel Road” on repeat.
Our Garden
This is our first year planting our own garden and, while it was a little slow to take off, we are finally starting to get some veggies! I’ve picked several jalapeños and we got our first ripe tomato this week. I can’t wait for BLTs with fresh tomatoes and lots of salsa!
